The Problem: Excessive soiling / dirt on instrument domes reduces the performance and accuracy of data collection. Without accurate irradiance data, it is not possible to assess the performance of a solar asset, leading to critical deviations between the theoretical and actual performance.
The Solution: An intelligent automatic sensor cleaning technology that ensures ongoing data accuracy. Proa's proprietary MetProtect technology avoids manual cleaning and ensures independent operations of our weather stations. All pyranometers are cleaned every day (during night-time) with demineralized water, avoiding traces of minerals on instrumentation domes.

Automated Cleaning
The self-cleaning system is activated daily (between sunset and sunrise) using high pressure demineralized water to wash the domes of the instruments.
Wildlife Radar
The wildlife deterrent system operates 24/7, detecting any bird or other type of wildlife within 5 meters of the instruments. If wildlife is detected, mechanical arms are triggered.
Rain Catchment &
Filter System
The water tank includes a water filter and rain catchment system to minimise water loss and reduce refill cycles. The system also features a water level alarm with automatic email notifications.
